The crucial characteristic value used to evaluate the reliability of a component subject to wear, such as a relay, is known as its "B10 lifespan."
This B10 lifespan is expressed as the number of switching operations by which 10% of the corresponding DUTs statistical fail as result of lifespan tests. Parameters such as the switching current, switching voltage, and load type all play an important role in this test.
Determining the B10 lifespan is originally a requirement from standard EN / ISO 13849 for machinery.
